Invisible Things

it may be imaginary. that doesn’t mean it’s not real.

Lyra Shaw has spent most of her life hiding the friends no one else can see. Since childhood, she has been able to see and hear the spirits of the forest near her home. After classmates called her crazy and a freak for talking about them, she stopped trying to explain and learned to keep that part of her life to herself.

Now nineteen and studying ecology at the local university, Lyra still escapes to the woods whenever she wants to be somewhere she doesn't have to hide.

Then Zephyr Foster finds her talking to someone he can't see.

He's an outgoing classmate from biology, part of exactly the kind of loud social world Lyra normally avoids. But instead of laughing at her or telling everyone what he saw, Zephyr keeps talking to her. He is curious about the quiet girl who somehow seems happiest when she thinks no one else is watching.

Then the forest itself is threatened.

The spirits Lyra has known since childhood may disappear with it, and she refuses to let that happen without a fight. Zephyr can't experience the forest the way Lyra does, but he refuses to let her fight for it alone.

As they try to save a place most people see only as land, Lyra and Zephyr have to reckon with belief, grief, love, and all the invisible things that can still be real even when no one else can see them.
